Hunger

Everybody’s got a hunger. Some folks admit it. Some don’t. Some even try to hide it.

The CrossFit Games champions? Their hunger was bigger than everybody else’s. They wanted it more.

When I was a kid playing basketball, I had a coach who used to face us off in two lines — one v. one — and throw the ball in the middle of the court. Whoever got to the ball first went back in line. The other kid had to run a lap. You learned really fast to get to that ball quick and do what you had to in order to grab it first. Or you had a lot of laps to think about finding that hunger.

Maybe we should do that with the barbell. And with life. What you want is in the center of the room . . . how hard are you willing to go to get it?

Winners get back in line and get another chance to win. Losers get time to think about what they could have done better. Just like in life.

So, get hungry. Make it happen. Run fast. Go hard. Throw your body down. And grab what you hunger for.
