CrossFit is a great reality check. Every time you think “Oh, I don’t know if I can do this” you can find somebody older than you doing something in CrossFit they probably shouldn’t be able to do.
You know what I mean. You’re standing on the platform, staring at the bar in the rack, thinking “How am I going to overhead squat 95lbs for 3? My shoulder is all wonky and I’m not positive what day it is and I’m pretty sure my pants are on backwards.” Then, you turn around and there’s some grandma banging out GHD sit-ups, and going all the way to the floor to touch, thankyouverymuch. Most of the time, she looks all sweet, like she’s about to bake you a dozen cupcakes, but say 3-2-1-Go! and she’s going to smash that cupcake under her heel and smoke your younger ass if she can. She doesn’t think she’s old …
So, the next time you even think you’re old, take a look at the masters and check your attitude. You are as old as you think you are. That saying can motivate you, or drag you down. Your choice …
