You should be doing your homework.
You know what I mean. Mobility work, watching a video here or there. Small stuff that, executed on your own time, would do wonders for improving your CrossFit experience — and wonders for improving your life.
Really — anybody ever feel worse after doing some of Kelly Starrett’s stretches to mobilize your body? They can hurt like heck while you’re doing them, but you feel great afterwards. You feel free.
And that’s what CrossFit is about — in its essence. Feeling free — free to do what you need to do, what you want to do, what you always dreamed of doing. In the gym. In life. Everywhere.
Nicole Carroll (Director of Training for CrossFit, Inc. — and of the infamous “15 Bodyweight OHS” piece of video) has this great line about CrossFit and results: “Where do we want to see those results? In our lives, in the bedroom, everywhere.”
So, steal a few minutes today and work your mobility and study movement and kickstart your motivation: do your homework. It’s really a lot more fun than multiplication tables when you were a kid. And you probably didn’t have hotness like Nicole and K-Starr as your teachers back then either . . .
